1. Do what you can, with what you have, where you are – Theodore Roosevelt
Most times we complain that what is holding us back, and stopping us from attaining our goals in life is inadequacy. In actual sense we made ourselves inadequate. We stop ourselves saying we are not good enough – ‘you don’t have what it takes’. Stop selling yourselves short, you are good just the way you are and the world is waiting for you to share your brilliance.
2. Create your dream circle/team
On your way to success, learn to surround yourself with people who genuinely care about your business and are looking out for your success. Learn to surround yourself with friends that can hold you accountable.
3. Have a Social Media Plan
Plan for what exactly you want to achieve with your online presence through the use of social media. Let the use of the social media be more than reconnecting with old family and friends. Let it be a launch pad for your business, products and services. Be authentic.
4. Change your mindset, Change your beliefs
Don’t think small or negatively about your business. Open up your mind to all possibilities. You must remove whatever fears, self doubt and lack of self worth in your own skills, talent and abilities. Purge yourself of all fears and doubts and start your business on a clean slate.
5. Have a Clear Goal
Decision making becomes a whole lot easier when you know what exactly your business is all about. What products / services are you offering and who you are offering it to? Who are your competition and how do you hope to serve your clients/customers?
6. Never run from challenges
Challenges have the power to create opportunities as well. As business owners we face lots of challenges daily in the cause of our business. Sometimes our first instinct is to buckle under the problem or run from it. Most solutions have been born out of challenges. Next time you are faced with challenges take a deep breath and work on creating a business out of it.
7. Don’t settle for anything less
This means never set a limit on which areas you can succeed in your business or life. You can have it all. A successful business, wonderful family. It won’t come on a platter of gold but it will come with focus and hard work. Remember “success is not an accident” – Paul Evans.
8. Living your truth
This is all about creating a business that resonates with who you are as a person – your purpose, values and skills. You are the image of your business. Your business should reflect who you are.
9. Stop waiting around for the big idea and build on the small ideas – Paul Bennett
You’ll never know when ‘the big idea’ is often wrapped in the small dream. Start from where you are, build on your foundation and be committed to the success of your business.
10. Always set clear intentions of what you want out of every day
Set a daily intention that will help achieve the larger objective of accomplishing your purpose. Ask yourself:
- What is my intention for today?
- What do I hope to achieve with my actions?
The aim of setting an intention is to help you get crystal clear on how to use your purpose for a greater use both in your life and also in your business. If you do not know how to set an intention start with those things you do want in your life. The intentions you set makes it easy for you to share your movement from your heart.
To your Success…

Hi Pamela,
All these are great. I specially liked number 2. That is a very practical thing to do. In order to succeed, we need to have a team of people around us who can encourage, help and support in times of need. Leaning from mistakes and failures can be another important point.

@Sourav, Hi Sourav, I completely agree that having a support network of friends, fellow business people, and bloggers can really make all the difference. Especially if they actively and openly support you in social media. It also helps if they tell you things straight – what you’re doing right, and what you can improve. This could even help prevent some mistakes, and help keep you on track.

I’m currently in the process of finding my dream circle. I made a lot of connections through a blog challenge and I’m building upon those relationships. Even though my niche (baseball) may be different than others, I’m hoping that I can find those who are looking out for my success.

@Jeff Wise, Hi Jeff, True you may be a baseball-aholic, but you are also a blogger. And regardless of your topic, the same principles determine your level of success in the blogging world. If you join groups and communities talking about baseball AND/ or blogging, I’m sure you will find plenty of friends to cheer you on

@Sourav, @Jeff Wise,
Number 2 is my favourite as well. I believe when you surround yourself with people who can level with you and keep you accountable, it helps to keep you focused on your goal.
It doesn’t really matter if they are in a different niche i believe what is important is they will tell you the truth about what progress you have made concerning your goal or what ever it is that needs to be achieved.
