Foursquare is a geo-location social media network that is growing at a very fast rate. It is becoming more and more popular for people to “check-in” at their favourite bar, cafe, restaurant, tourist attraction, and other locations. And now more add-on mobile apps are being created to enhance the value of Foursquare, and extend the interaction just from “checking in”.
If you currently have a smartphone (iPhone or Android), here are 10 new Foursquare mobile apps you may want to look into:
1. Fourcash, finance by location
Fourcash is promoted as a fun, free way to manage your personal finances by location. Login with your Foursquare ID, CheckIn to venues, note which of your friends you’re with, jot down how much you spent, and what it was on. Then, verify the check-in by snapping a picture of the receipt. Finally, log-in to the Fourcash website (with your foursquare creds) to see what this all looks like. Think mint.com, by location, and without having to enter all of your personal financial details.
The App is currently in Beta and today it’s an Android App.
2. PocketCrowd
The PocketCrowd Application was created to tell your friends where you will be… not just where you are. You can:
* Schedule foursquare checkins
* Get Yelp ratings on venues
* Create events and invite friends
3. Devotee
Devotee is a mobile web application for customers to earn free stuff at the places they go most. Say I love Starbucks and go there everyday. Everytime I go, I make a purchase, post to Twitter, and check into Foursquare to earn coupons that total up. Every 3 or 4 times, I get a free coffee.
This is a work in progress, and I’m not sure if the full application is released yet. You can register on their website to receive updates as to when it will be available.
4. Singles for Foursquare
The Singles for Foursquare iPhone app lets you view and chat with singles who are at your current location.
5. Footfeed
Footfeed is the first native iPhone app that makes it easy to check-in to Brightkite, Foursquare and Gowalla simultaneously. Built from the ground up as a check-in aggregator network, Footfeed aims to bring together the check-in services so that you can check-in to many networks without the need to open multiple apps.
6. Thrillist for iPhone
Check in from spots that don’t suck directly from the new Thrilist for iPhone app, complete with seamless Foursquare integration.
A supplement to their free daily email, Thrillist for iPhone narrows down the selection to offer you the handpicked nearest, newest, and most popular venues — from five-star steaks to two-dollar tacos, rooftop clubs to underground speakeasies.
7. Spinlet
Spinlet is a music network with Foursquare music Check-Ins. Check-In to a venue with your favourite tunes. See who, what and where on Spinlet real-time map view.
Spinlet is available for iPhone and Android devices.
8. fiddme
Remarkable app for mobile phones around food. It’s a restaurants guide… it’s a friend-finder… it’s a game… it’s Fiddme!
Fiddme aims to be a local visual guide to the culinary wonders around you exposing new to new places and friends in your area. It’s super easy to checkin while you post a new bite.
9. TipFinder
TipFinder is an Android app that helps you find the best places to eat and drink!
