“Some teenager just called me lame for not being on foursquare. As I choked him, I wondered what foursquare even is.” 8:03 AM Jun 10th @Mickey__Rourke
To answer Mickey’s curiosity – Foursquare is a new social media network, and if you want to find out the full details, please visit my post – Is Foursquare a New Social Media Phenomenon?
The interest in Foursquare is growing around the world, and from a marketing point-on-view, the opportunities for small business to reward loyal customers is huge. This is especially relevant for businesses in hospitality (restaurants, fast food, bars, night clubs, cafes and coffee shops) but also attractions and hotels.
There is no suprise that Foursquare is encouraging developers to take their concept, and expand on it, to take it to the next level as fast as possible. This is occuring along the same lines as Facebook Applications, and also Twitter Applications, that boomed after the release of these social media networks.
So let’s have a look at 10 new Foursquare Website Applications that you can try today to use with your new Foursquare account. These are so new I’m yet to test them all, so I can only provide details on what they say about themselves. If you’ve tried any of these, and you love them or hate them, or are just curious, feel free to comment below:
“Sprout Social was created to help business harness the power of the social web and turn social connections into loyal customers. So, what do you think, Fiona?
I’m not familiar with Foursquare at all ( although I’ve certainly been hearing all the Buzz!). Do you think Foursquare will ever become more popular than than the “Big 3″ social networking sites?
Foursquare seems to be gathering some steam versus moss!

@Melanie Kissell, Hi Melanie, I think Foursquare has great potential, I have used it a little, and I think it’s pretty good. But in these times, social media can come and go, and needs to be really special to be considered to have the potential of the “Big 3″. The big brands jumping on board is a good indication that it does have some value, and whether the current huge social networks join forces or develop their own version…. well, we will just have to wait and see…
Still this geo-location/ mobile technology is only going to become more popular.
I really like this blogpost. These are some new social sites that I have not used. Which one do you like the best? Keep us posted. I am going to check out Foursquare now thanks to you.

@abnormalmarket Just read your #Foursquare article, from an online only business owner point of view … it’s useless to me right?
@piotrkrzyzek Hi Piotr, Maybe, maybe not – but is #foursquare useful to your clients?
@abnormalmarket Good question, haven’t thought of it that way. Though probably not. 99% are either at home biz or online only #foursquare

Just stumbledupon your site through this post.

(1) Great site . . . content and clean style.
(2) Regarding Foursquare, however, I downloaded before my trip to Manhattan and had LOTS of problems. Initially I could check in, but lately it hasn’t really worked, i.e., “no authorization” or something like that.
Maybe one of your readers can offer me a tutorial

@Shari Weiss, Hi Shari, Thank you for your feedback on my website, I really appreciate it
Strange that you had issues with Foursquare on your recent trip. I hope your mobile was compatible, or maybe the application you uploaded on your mobile had a problem?
I think there are a few levels of authorisation… for extra security… but I’ll keep my ears open to hear if anyone else has troubles…
this is another great article and really useful for blogging promotions, these social websites are really doing great help in getting traffic and public approach.
